I love a collar poking out from under a crewneck sweater, preferably in a weird color combination. And now our favorite British sportswear genius Christopher Shannon has added a new world of possibility, splicing his spring pullovers with panels of sheer fabric. Layering just got real! Patchwork madras sits pretty with cotton shirting, and hi-tech sports fabric pairs up with inside-out jersey. On the contrast track pants and paneled sweatshirt, the designer uses the nubby underside of standard sweatshirt material as a contrast to the smoothness of his featherlight (really, it's so light) nylon. Pile on the pieces and let the prints shine through.
Also new for spring: Kidda!, Christopher's diffusion line. Reworking cult prints from his earlier collections, sweats get fancy with waves of printed chains.
