Wes Lang Opens at Half Gallery

Yesterday, Wes Lang's new show opened at Half Gallery. Of course, the artist's signature illustrations of sexy women, tattoo flashes, and skulls cover the walls. But if you pay close attention to the work, it might go as far as lifting your mood. Scrawled on his pieces are optimistic messages like "It's all possible," "I can't help it if I'm lucky," "Leave time alone," and "Miracles." Beyond the positive, self-help aspect, there is a strong poetic element in his imagery and handwriting. Together, they form a visual collage. If Basquiat poured his work from an unconscious realm onto the canvas, Wes consciously beckons a free and fulfilled life in his works.
