The semester's almost over but at SchoolHouse Projects in Nolita, class is now in session. An extension of SPRING/BREAK Art Show—the alternative art fair featured on the blog back in March—SchoolHouse Projects is dedicated to independent curatorial projects.
Opening last night, Transhuman is curated by Cecelia Stucker and discusses the meaning of life as viewed by the 14 participating artists, including NICK DARMSTAEDTER, JANE MOSELEY, and PETER SUTHERLAND. It's heavy stuff and as is the case with most philosophical soul-searching, the exhibit raises more questions than it answers. The work ranges from abstract expressionist ponderings to instructional, multimedia pieces, and everything in between. This is the first monthly exhibit that SchoolHouse will stage at this space, so keep an eye out for more good things.
Through May 27th, 2012.
