When it comes to fashion, August is a strange month. Why? Because no one actually wants summer to end, but everyone is ready for a wardrobe change. The predicament is pretty straightforward: It’s eighty degrees out, but you just purchased a new wool parka for wintertime… Guess it’s time to sweat your ass off, right?
Guess again. Just because the fashion season doesn’t always align with the actual season doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of pieces that allow you to wear fall styles without overheating. A great pair of Wil Fry Lightweight Double Layer Shorts or an Issey Miyake Mesh Tank are both proof that you can have it all—no matter the time of year. Other designers also understand our sentiments: Swedish cult label Our Legacy’s sleeveless sweatshirt is the perfect late-summer “heavyweight” that offers a minimalist take on the muscle sweatshirt. In the polo world, the short-sleeve offerings courtesy of Kenzo, Hood By Air, and J.W. Anderson also help make for a sweat-free top that can be worn with shorts or pants.
We’re all sad that summer is ending, but do we really have to accept it and dress like it is just yet?
