Among the throng of fashion insiders—and their entourage—at the Opening Ceremony Fall/Winter 2015 show, was a noticeable attendee who couldn't be seen without his skateboard the entire night.
The dude with the board is Massey Blakeman, a part-time model and full-time skater who managed to catch our attention with his laid-back vibe and nonchalant 'tude. Before the mass of A-list guests arrived, Massey Blakeman had the chance to ride through the gallery space on his handy skateboard, followed by a camera crew that continued to film throughout the eventful night. But don't get it twisted: just because Blakeman is usually the subject in front of the camera doesn't mean that he wasn't down to step back and appreciate the main man behind it.
"I like the series in the back room. I think all of Spike's photos and the clothing are really dope," says Blakeman. "I used to do stuff like that with my friends. We would try to imitate it, so it's cool to see actual raw stuff that Spike shot back-in-the-day like that."
While the chance to hang around skate legends like Mark Gonzales and BMX-pro Mat Hoffman may be the icing on the cake for some, for Blakeman, it's all about the talk of the night: Jonze's 35-milimeter archive photos.
"Seeing all of Spike's work is kind of inspiring because I'm a skater," says Blakeman. "Plus, who doesn't like all of these people pictured on the walls?"
