Self-Help Music That Tells You To 'Carry Like Mariah'

Let’s make one thing crystal clear: Jay Boogie is the shit—and he knows it. Since the Brooklyn-bred rapper premiered his latest single “Body” on the OC site, he's accomplished everything he predicted in his earlier tracks. Between performances, Jay has been putting the finishing touches on his shade-filled debut album, Allure— and we're premiering it here before it hits OC stores exclusively, this Saturday, December 20.

Topping rapper Big Sean's "IDFU" tell-off, Jay Boogie's Allure contains a self-assured vendetta list that spans a whole album with his sultry purrs thrown in for good measure. Each track complements Boogie’s distinctive vocals and automatically answers the question, "Why doesn’t Jay Boogie F with me?"

The answer? You’re just not on his level.

Jay's aggressively Brita-clear delivery and blunt lyricism manages to hold up to his slippery, seductive beats. "Each song is a journal entry of a month's time and my sentiments towards that moment in my life," says Jay. "It's what I was celebrating, failed relationships, and troubles I overcame."

"Overcame" is an understatement with a debut as impactful as Allure. Upon each listen, Jay leaves the listener attempting vogue culture in their seats while nodding in agreement to lyrics such as “Spilled your latte, I’m too spicy” or "Ain't afraid to go Super Saiyan."

Besides being one of the most aggressively danceable debut albums this fall, Boogie’s no-holds-barred attitude radiates through the music to a level where you can’t help but feel just as badass.

If an album with lyrics that encourage the listener to “Carry like Mariah” isn't a 10-step program tracklist to rediscovering your inner-bad bitch, we don't know what is.

Listen to an exclusive premiere of Jay Boogie's Allure below, and grab the OC-exclusive physical copy when it hits stores this Saturday, December 20.
