Yesterday, Colin Snapp's show Continental Drift  opened at The Journal gallery. Snapp's work, consisting of photographed video stills, has a blurry, digitalized aspect to it in addition to a singular color palette. The process of shooting stills typically sets an unconscious distance from the subject. In this collection of images, the artist delivers photographs taken through the windows of buses, trains, taxis, and rental cars during his trip to North Africa. Snapp thereby uses the window as a semi-invisible screen to reveal a cultural distance between the viewer and the subject. By playing with these restrictive methods, Snapp continues to take the art of photography into new dimensions.
