Patrik Ervell's Spring/Summer 2015 fashion show doesn't happen until tomorrow evening, but the New York-based designer and longtime OC friend is revealing preview shots from his forthcoming men's collection, exclusively through Opening Ceremony. "Interiors operate in a different kind of fashion system. Styles persist for decades instead of seasons. Interiors are designed to last—something to live with rather than wear and discard. The materials used in this collection reflect that kind of enduring ethos, fabrics asked to function and perform as both ornament and utility beyond passing trends. This drive for highly durable, almost indestructible garments may seem oppositional to the current state of fashion, however it’s perfectly suited to menswear—which relies on the play of proportions in suits and jackets and sportswear and a synthesis of materials that maintain far beyond a single season. Interior and industrial design was the inspiration of this spring collection, and performance driven textiles for interiors are employed to reflect that spirit of resilience and endurance, an architectural experimentation of indoor and outdoor, familiarity and surprise, function and adornment. Out of these syntheses, a new definition of luxury and wearability can take shape: the body as a room, clothes like furniture or light or paint, goods to inhabit and to keep." — Patrik Ervell
