Art Basel Miami is obviously about the art fair, but sometimes you get so caught up in the endless parties that it’s hard to get around to everything. I knew before I came that a main priority was to make it out to the opening for my favorite bad boys of art, The Stillhouse Group.
I took a highly hectic cab with a driver who spoke no English, but after 45 minutes in traffic, and a little creative iPhone navigation, I finally made it. The Still House Group presents RIFFRAFF curated by Cecelia Stucker was in a spacious, multi-room warehouse space in Miami’s Design District that was filled with the work of 14 artists, including Still House residents Alex Perweiller, Isaac Brest, Zachary Susskind, Brendan Lynch, Dylan Lynch, Louis Eisner, Nick Darmstaedter, O.C. collaborator Jack Greer, and OC model babe Jane Moesely. It was great to see the work of all these young New York based artists outside of New York City. I really appreciated some of the large scale pieces that the boys drove down from New York. Riff Raff, the title and the show itself, was a comment on all the insanity that happens at Basel. It proved to be a multi dimensional show and I can’t wait to see what comes from these boys in the future. Check out my pictures from the opening and Still House’s website here.
