Ikumi Yamada Has 'Inappropriate' Dreams

Whether we want to fess up to it or not, many of us have tried to emulate that #IWokeUpLikeThis, model-off-duty look (last attempt: two hours ago). Or, maybe we've just fantasized about rummaging through our favorite model's closet and nabbing a few sweaters as our own. Enter IKUMI YAMADA of the Japanese brand I BY IKUMI. The model-turned-designer has created a line of clothing that is as unique and cool as her own personal style: think whimsical, oversized silhouettes, furry textures, and geometric shapes.

Why did you start i by ikumi? In order to get everybody to live freely
What's the inspiration behind this collection? I don't have one particular influence, I'm just always inspired by life.
What does the name "i" mean? "i" stands for ikumi, but also individuality.
What is your favorite piece from the current collection? The clothes with the ◯△□pocket.
