Last Friday night, visitors at the Andrea Rosen Gallery cracked open the Rolling Rock in celebration of the opening of Cultural Production. The new exhibition features pieces from four conceptual artists, each appropriating different readily available materials, such as popular literature (Allen Ruppersburg’s installation), instructional flowcharts (Alexandre Singh), calendars (Hanne Darboven), or shopping window displays (Josephine Meckseper’s work). The outcome of their collective play with the everyday is a critique of the cultural processes by which fine or high art is generated, categorized, and deemed worthy of display.

Cultural Production runs through March 24, 2012.
