The Only Thing Better Than Eytys? Printed Eytys!

Swedish cult sneaker brand Eytys (pronounced “80s”) is back this spring with three fresh takes of their beloved Mother, the label’s trademark minimal lace-up with one-inch vulcanized rubber platforms that never fails to fly off OC shelves. Where past efforts have seen soft leathers and suedes venture into darker color palette, this season’s styles tread more into literal 80s aesthetic territory—print.

Billed as a tribute to The Memphis Group—an Italian design and architecture collective founded in early 80s whose work is often characterized by the novel use of colors and asymmetrical shapes—the new Eytys were created with the help of London-based artist Rhys Coren. Max Schiller, Jonathan Hirschfeld, and Charlie Hedin, the trio of childhood friends behind Eytys, tapped Rhys because “his work evokes bitter sweet memories of candied and colorful Kellogg’s cereals, of being ten years old and glued to the TV without a care in the world," they said in a press release. Drawing influence from the soccer goalie kit designs and Acid House-scenes of the late 80s and early 90s, these are technicolor hues the Saved by the Bell crew would kill for.
