House of Holland Fall/Winter 2014: London Fashion Week

When I received my invite to the House of Holland Fall/Winter 2014 show, I should have anticipated debauchery. Dinner napkins, with lipstick kisses and wine glass stains, were sent as the entry ticket to Henry Holland's grand debutante ball. Then I arrived at the massive warehouse space, which had a centerpiece made from a pair of fallen chandeliers—a hint to showgoers that this collection wasn't going to be such a sweet coming-of-age party after all.

The collection read as a kaleidoscope of colors, something we have come to expect from House of Holland almost as much as we anticipate an enthralling story behind the collection. Henry's debs wore sweet taffeta frocks, elegant sequined dresses in vivid ombrés, and pearly lace-up stilettos. But soon came the gatecrashers, who wore jewel-tone satin bomber jackets with "Rich Bitch" emblazoned across the back and tight metallic leather pants. It was a Grease-like scenario as we witnessed the transition of Sandy from good girl to bad girl. Henry's naughty society girls even made it onto the cover of trashy UK tabloid newspaper, The Sun—or at least onto a HOH T-shirt, with the headline, "Ooh La La!"
