Jeremy Scott Fall/Winter 2014: New York Fashion Week

If there's one thing you can count on from JEREMY SCOTT, it's infectious energy. From my seat at the designer's Fall/Winter 2014 show at Milk Studios, I could just catch the models start to wiggle their hips as they exited the runway to the hip-hop meets 80s-rock soundtrack (think "We Will Rock You" by way of LL Cool J). And Jeremy himself had a particular bounce in his step as he sprinted down the catwalk clad in one of his now-trademark monster sweaters, its cartoon face somewhere in between Roy Lichtenstein and Ren & Stimpy.

And where would such a sporty collection be without energy? Athletic influences were in every single look, from mesh tops to dresses that looked like basketballs to prints made of jersey numbers. Sports inspired collections are everywhere right now, but Jeremy had his own take. Many of the looks were bondage-inspired, such as a pair of nude vinyl lace-up pants or a leotard with corset stitching from the crotch to the neck. In Jeremy Scott's world, being an athlete isn't just about being cool and comfortable, but sometimes making sacrifices for fashion.
