OC x NYFW: Suno FW12

With its opening suite of structured, sophisticated looks focusing on dark wools and tweed, last night's Suno FW12 show promised a departure from the exuberant, multicolored prints that have been the brand's hallmark. Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis presented a collection with endless variety and imagination. Badges embellished creatively cut, layered jackets, slim striped pants were worn with graphic sweaters, and black crept in in the form of leather and sparkling evening wear. Which is not to say that prints were out of the picture; woodland florals, polka dots, and stripes all had their moments, also appearing on the beautiful Nicolas Kirkwood collaboration shoes.

When we asked Erin what the inspiration was behind the collection, she said, "This season we wanted to explore the fascinating feelings of childhood––the time when you truly see the scope and size of the world––grand and mysterious. We looked at illustrators like Edward Gorey and Shel Silverstein as inspirations for prints. For silhouettes, in order to contain the whimsy of it all, we wanted to go with something more utilitarian and militaristic. An insanely strong woman with a great sense of humor."
