In THE LOOK, OC friends drop by to try on our favorite new arrivals and tell us about their wardrobe preferences past and present.
This week OC had a very special visitor, our friend and photographer extraordinaire, CASS BIRD. It’s difficult to write about her from an objective point of view, as she’s my friend and someone I’ve worked with often—her first music video just so happened to be my band's first music video. Whether it's her advertising, fashion, or personal work, her creations are distinctly unique: honest, genuine, full of energy, and usually with a healthy dose of humor. This is what makes Cass Bird a phenomenon, the raw sincerity that is atypical amongst the cavalcade of data we take in on a daily basis. It’s become acceptable to dismiss sincerity as something flippant, but Cass overpowers that philosophy by exposing remarkable strength in vulnerability. I believe that’s a very rare quality and I feel truly blessed to have been a part of it.

What look were you into in high school? Kris Kross, acrylic nails, tweezed eyebrows, overalls with one strap down

Your 3 wardrobe essentials? Jeans, sneakers, vintage rose gold Rolex
Your 3 wardrobe wishes for spring? Anything that hides my muffin top.
Most prized piece in your wardrobe? Maroon Celine sweatshirt
Favorite spots to shop? I don’t have one.
Favorite designers? Gitman Bros, Celine, Marni, Acne, Maiyet, and Sibling
How long have you lived in NYC? 10 years
Why did you leave LA? My wife tricked me into moving here.
What was the last thing you shot? Pharrell album cover!
You appear to always be shooting whether it’s personal or for work, is there something you want to say in one perception that you don’t get to say in the other? That is too deep, need to think about it…
Tell us about a shoot that was exceptionally remarkable for you. Every time I get to work with a good subject. (Viggo Mortensen was a fave!)
Are you working on any personal projects right now? Not sure… I’m not trying to be vague but I don’t know how things will turn out.
Do you have specific people you prefer to shoot? If so, why? Gays!
What would be your dream shoot? I love all photoshoots.
What’s next on the horizon for you? Shooting Binx for iD Magazine on Tuesday.
