In "SOUND CHECK," we check in with some of our favorite musicians.

Jessica Gentile, aka Jubilee, is without question one of our fave DJs. Always armed with the best beats for the dancefloor, she's thrown down tunes for a handful of OC parties and even a Riri-themed mixtape, packed with dug-up gems by the Barbadian songstress, to celebrate the Rihanna for River Island collection at OC. Every Tuesday at 5:30 sharp, you'll find us tuned into Radio Lily for her weekly radio show––a flawless mix of tropical sounds that evolves into dance music. Today, Jubilee's new EP Pull Ova is officially out, and we checked in Jess to get the low down. Find out what she had to say about annoying DJ requests, candy raves in present-day NYC, and more while streaming her tracks below.

Jubilee - Pull Ova by Mixpak

Fill in the blank: My name is ___ and my music sounds like___
My name is Jubilee and my music sounds like a Miami strip club in the after hours.

Do you go to a lot of strip clubs in Miami?
It’s different, it’s not like the strip clubs here [in New York]. It’s where you can drink or hang after the clubs close at 5am. You don't go to the strip club to go to the strip club; it’s just open.

I just wanted to make a strip club anthem that can still be played at Output. And Mixpak, the label that I’m on, is good at mixing genres. It's a lot of dancehall––there's Beenie Man, Popcaan, Vybz Kartel. Then there's me, this guy Melé from London, and people like Koyote and Dubbel Dutch. And dance people are on the label too, so sometimes they remix those artists.

The EP is called "Pull Ova." Have you ever had a run-in with the law?
Surprisingly, not nearly as much as I should have. I usually left that to my boyfriend at the time, whoever it was. Usually they were the ones getting arrested, and I was somehow getting out of things. I'd pull a J-Lo and cry everytime. [Laughs] But it was so funny because "Pull Ova" went up on the Internet last week and it’s Miami-th
