Julien David Fall/Winter 2014 at Paris Men's Fashion Week

Leave it to Julien David to serve up laid-back street with just the right amount of buttoned-up clean. Case in point: the nubby, Rasta-colored, boxy suit the designer sent down the runway of this Fall/Winter 2014 show. The pot-head laissez faire attitude cut into a typical formalwear silhouette epitomizes what David does best––wearable menswear with a playful twist. That twist can take the form of Angelfire-style pixelated prints on a T-shirt, or puffs of fabric on monochromatic jackets, giving them a 3-D feel. Or super-fresh suede and linen-blend platform sneakers, or (we promise this is the last one!) boxy knee-length coats in rich, experimental fabrics sourced in Japan, where he is based. This time around, David joined forces with the artist Antoine Wagner to put together the collection, which he called "cosmopolitan and global." As expected, we got serious pangs of desire from it all.
