I can no longer look at striations in close proximity without thinking of that iconic Joy Division Unknown Pleasures album cover. Proenza Schouler's new Resort collection is full of prints that look just like that, in a color palette of black and white with a smattering of red. Where last season was rather structured and prim, these new pieces are loose and lightweight––yet still as distinctly feminine as Proenza Schouler always is. The focus in this collection was the clothing's movement: it drapes instead of conforming to your body, as shown in boxy silk T-shirts and flared skirts on pretty dresses. The striated print itself seems to move across the soft and flowing garments, crawling from side-to-side, bringing your eye along with it. So it's time to let your hair down and rock out! Might I suggest "She's Lost Control" by Joy Division?
