This London Collections: Men's fashion week, the lovely style blogger SUSIE BUBBLE reports, just for OC!
It’s official. You can move Nasir Mazhar out of the milliner box (that term always seemed a bit too prim 'n' proper for him anyway) and into a fully-fledged, bombastic ready-to-wear designer. Since adding sweatshirts and track pants to his line of box peak caps and rucksacks three seasons ago, Mazhar has found himself a fervent fanbase that embraces his kind of logomania and souped-up casualwear.
Separating his womenswear and menswear last season has also strengthened Mazhar’s renegade brand-building. For Fall/Winter 2014, his men's collection represented another milestone as he broadens his repertoire: "We’ve mainly been doing sportswear but this season, we wanted to do a bigger wardrobe,” he said backstage. “It’s more fitted and body-conscious." This fuller wardrobe now includes fitted shirts, braces, logo-ed holsters, and reflective textures. Motocross-inspired trousers were slashed, zippered, and paneled with iridescent organza and lenticulars for a textural take on bling, while a triple-layered pair of basketball shorts in metallic organza definitely put a new spin on the meaning of sports-luxe. But Mazhar also delivered black tie his way, emblazoning cumberbands with a typographic play on the name Nasir Mazhar.
As usual, Mazhar had show-goers dancing in their seats, and left his growing fanbase ready to be bankrupt by this collection.
