Our contributor from across the pond, Polly Lovelady of TALETWOCITIES, reports from the latest Ryan McGinley show in London, Wandering Comma.
Ryan McGinley’s work projects intense emotions that allows the viewer to step out of the routine of daily life, reminding you that letting go is good for the soul. His images make the viewer evaluate the importance of being alive, making you want to live for the moment. Ryan rarely shows in London but he's still managed to procure a large following. As I arrived at Alison Jacques Gallery, the crowds made me double take, I thought maybe there was a queue to get inside! Upon closer inspection, these people were just having a time-out, sipping on beers. Ryan was spotted inside keeping his admirers happy and working his way through the crowd. The huge images allow the viewer to be fully immersed within his work, and boy did he succeed. My love for Ryan was large but now it is magnificent.
