Remember the eerily beautiful OC-exclusive editorial Patrik Ervell produced for Fall/Winter 2013? The dreamy backdrop that surrounded his outdoorsy collection was in the woods of Santa Cruz, California, just across the bay from where the designer grew up. These Northern California forests were a major inspiration for the collection, resulting in a lineup of winter-worthy outerwear and a RealTree-style pattern across shirts and trousers. The camouflage developed was made up of photographs of trees, branches, and ivy at night. Patrik explained, "It's something I've been wanting to do for awhile. I don't have any experience or familiarity with hunting but I love the way that kind of non-military camo looks. It manages to feel tough but also beautiful."
Unfortunately, all the greenery across his collection couldn't stop the leaves from falling, but luckily, Patrik has given us an exclusive T-shirt full of foliage (he calls it "day camo") just as we were mourning the bare trees around the city.
