BITES ON A BUDGET is a toothsome and tasty series where members of the OC family forage for great food––under $10
As a vegetarian, I’ve had my fair share of soggy veggie sandwiches. Which is why Snack, a bright and cozy eatery on Thompson Street, with its delicious, easy-on-the-meat menu, was such a welcomed relief for this non meat-eater. Don't get me wrong––there are some tasty-looking options for the carnivores out there. But even my fellow OC interns all chose veg options without even realizing it. They simply looked that good.
Vintage photos and Greek grocery items line the shelves of this Soho spot whose clock, above the kitchen, is proudly set to Athens time. I ordered the vegetarian souvlaki––a bounty of fresh and crunchy cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions with butter beans, tzatziki, and feta served in a warm pita. The unfussy dish came with a small side of delicious grape leaves, stuffed with rice and spices.
Snack is the kind of place you want to go for fresh comfort food that's filling, but also light enough so that you don't feel heavy afterwards. Check out what else we ordered at our table in the pictures below.
