A Little Melodrama Comes to London

After a hugely successful four month-long exhibition at Los Angeles' MoCA, the Swiss-born artist Urs Fischer is back on European soil, with a show at Sadie Coles gallery in London. I popped in to celebrate the opening of Melodrama last night, where I hung out with Urs (whom I befriended in Los Angeles this past summer) and his partner Tara Subkoff (the Imitation of Christ designer and longtime OC friend). On display were a number of clay sculptures set on the floor and suspended from mid-air. Urs had arrived in London just seven days prior to the exhibition to hand-sculpt the hanging pieces––fist-sized raindrops of plaster––spending up to five hours a day modling them into an incredible installation. The exhibition will be up until mid-January; Londoners, check it out!
