In "THE LOOK" OC friends drop by to try on our favorite new arrivals, and tell us about their wardrobe preferences past and present.

In the midst of preparing for the release of her book, SKY2K, and her first solo show in New York, photographer Sandy Kim found the time to pay us a visit this past week. Sandy first found momentum while living in San Francisco, taking photographs of her friends—who just happened to be the band Girls. While photographing their rise to success, Sandy found herself gaining equal recognition with her pictures of the band. But Sandy's work stretches far beyond the music world. Intimate but not precious, her photographs frequently turn the camera on herself, her life, and her loved ones. At the age of 27, Sandy has been featured in the New York Times, The FADER, Vice, and Purple, as well as exhibitions in Tokyo, San Francisco, LA, and, finally, New York. Not too shabby.

What is SKY2K about? It's about the selfie generation.
You're currently living in NYC but got your start in San Francisco—how has your work evolved from city to city? I've changed tremendously as a person since I moved to New York. Your environment and the people who surround you all influence you as a person. You learn more and you live more and you learn how to survive more.
You take a lot of photos of your friends. Are there any strangers you'd like to photograph? Strangers end up becoming friends. Everyone I've photographed was a stranger when I first met them but I guess as long as you connect as people you become friends. I'd love to shoot Rihanna!
Ryan McGinley has photographed you as well as mentioning you as one of his favorite photographers. Has he been an influence on your subject matter? I think Ryan and I have the same taste in people! I remember seeing the photographs from his "Moonmilk" series. The people he photographed were dreamy and beautiful, and a part of me wanted to get to know those subjects. I have inevitably bumped into people Ryan h
