Being a teenager in South Florida for so long, you began to accept that tours stop at Tallahassee, or if your lucky, Tampa. Can't blame anyone, though––drive through Alligator Alley and you'll see. So you bet I was first in line when the Yeah Yeah Yeahs played South Florida for the first time, in an intimate show inside an old movie theater. I actually got to go by chance; some contest winners didn't show up for their prize package they'd won on 97X. So the gods parted the clouds and granted it to me. And I accepted––autograph album in one hand, KFC BBQ popcorn chicken in the other––if I remember correctly.
Flash forward: I'm teleported from Pompano Beach to the Barclays Center last Friday. It's all the same energy the three-piece has brought to every performance, just on a grander stage. If the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs practiced at Barclays five times a week, the three of them could play The Nets come game season.
