This past Monday, OCLA's Miguel and I visited YouTube's brand spanking new LA headquarters to experience a live streaming event celebrating Placebo's new album, Loud Like Love. The event connected the band (which was in London at the time) with YouTube headquarters around the globe. Fans were able to watch them perform, and they could also ask the musicians questions via Skype. The band also talked about the inspiration behind their new album, spoke to the artists behind the album's design, and took us on a trip down memory lane with pictures and flyers from some of their earliest shows.
When it came time for the band to connect with the LA location, we were all unexpectedly ushered on stage. Because it was also Mexican Independence Day, we were joined by a mariachi band that played a cover of Placebo's new single about social media and isolation, "Too Many Friends" (which I subsequently jammed to all the way home!). In between filming, we were able to explore the amazing YouTube LA HQ. The building contains numerous studios, one of which is dedicated to set design and features mock-ups for horror films! We took pictures in the photobooths, drank espresso, and played with the bunnies that lived in the surrounding gardens! Check our snaps below.![]()
