Merging choreography and improvisation, Sophia Cleary's brother sister lover claimed the itinerant WoRKSHOP space last night, up on the Bowery. Sophia, along with artist Joseph Teeling, got unreservedly physical to a soundtrack that ranged from "Sure Thing" by Miguel and "As Long As He Needs Me" by Judy Garland, to ear-numbing white noise. Together they built a relationship through movement, each sequence conditioned by a particular genre of music. Crunking, jumping, grinding, hugging, pushing, and rolling (over each other)—they had all the right moves.
