Last Thursday night, I paid a visit to M + B gallery in West Hollywood to see Apparatus, a group show curated by OC photographer and friend Tim Barber. The gallery was festooned with the work of some of today's most influential artists such as Ryan McGinley, Aurel Schmidt, and Andrew Kuo (to name a few). Pieces ranged from photos, paintings, installations, and a projection of 508 photos on loop from Daniel Arnold's iPhone. Each piece represented a different view of the human form, from abstraction to reality. "Apparatus," defined as a set of materials designed for a particular use, could not have been a more perfect title for this eclectic show that featured so many representations of the human body and its parts.
Through August 31, 2013.
