Bites on a Budget: $9.61 at Wolfnights Gourmet

BITES ON A BUDGET is a toothsome and tasty series where members of the OC family forage for great food––under $10!

While the rest of New York is rising with the sun to try and cop a cronut, I've remained faithful to my true love—wraps. I have been steady mobbin' on my rap game wrap game even before discovering burritos, arguably the fun young aunts of the wrap family. Since the first bite of an Osterville Elementary School cafeteria ham-and-cheese roll up one fateful second grade afternoon, I've been hooked. After hearing about the recent opening of Wolfnight's Gourmet, I felt it my spiritual duty to consume one of their top-notch wrappers delights. Loddie and I wandered over to the corner of Rivington and Ludlow and pulled up a swing.

The Wolfnights menu is essentially Pimp My Ride, but for the oft ridiculed wrap. Nine bucks and change got me The Howling: chicken, fried pickles, feta, melon, mint, and yogurt sauce wrapped in date-and-pumpkin seed dough with the precision of an FAO Schwartz gift on Christmas Eve. Loddie went for a Teen Wolf: falafel, pickled red onion, grilled scallions, toasted sunflower seed, pickles, and sesame sauce wrapped in a fig-and-pomegranate dough. I was feeling spendy and snagged us some tater tots for an additional $3.95, which we used to nose dive into the house Wolf Ketchup.

It wasn't until after plowing through the first half of our wraps to The Cure's "Just Say Yes" that we noticed the Wolf Attack: tots topped with melted cheddar cheese,
jalapeño, grilled onions, and meat sauce. We'll be back with our Napoleon Dynamite A-game for them. That's a wrap.
