Sidian Ersatz & Vanes Has Found the Golden Shirt Ratio!

You can tell by looking at a Sidian, Ersatz & Vanes shirt that its designers are all about proportions. Since the brand's beginning in 2011, its three anonymous founders have been nerdily obsessed by creating button-downs with just the right cut and mathematically precise color-blocking—their signature contrasting panels hit an inch below the top of the breast pockets. For Spring/Summer 2013 they take it one step further, looking to men who were doing this stuff millennia ago: the ancient Greeks. Specifically, Euclid. Sorry to get all grade-school geometry on you but his face even appears on hand-rolled silk tie. Other nods to the ancients include a marble print and a palette of salmon pink and pale blue, inspired by classical friezes. As usual, each shirt is finished with mother-of-pearl buttons and woven from either custom printed cotton, poplin, or, new for this season, silk.
