Shop Talk: Stephan Schneider Drops by OCLA

Menswear designer Stephan Schneider recently came by the LA store sharing gifts and an interesting story about the origins of his hometown, Antwerp, Belgium.

Antwerp literally means to throw a hand (ant meaning hand and werpen meaning to throw), which recalls Belgian folklore where they used to collect taxes at the harbor—if you couldn't pay your fees they would chop off your hand and throw it into the water! Although it was a slightly morbid tale, it's clear the history of Antwerp is rich. Even richer were the hand-shaped cookies that Stephan brought to share with us. Yum! Thanks, Stephan!
