Baked, poached, scrambled––any way you prepare them, eggs are positively delicious and can do no wrong. Well, aside from cholesterol and whatnot, but that's a whole different story. Basically, they're a key ingredient in anything delicious. That's why when I heard of Egg in Williamsburg, I knew I had to go over and pay a visit. After a 45-minute wait––it's Sunday brunch in Brooklyn, we knew what we were getting into––we were seated at our table, complete with a fresh, white paper covering and a jar of crayons to decorate it with. The perfect start to a great meal.
A sucker for anything involving chorizo, I opted for the Chorizo and Eggs, topped with jalapeños and salsa verde. The scrambled eggs were the perfect consistency and flavor: soft but not mushy, airy but substantial. For those of you seeking extra spice such as myself, ask for some hot sauce. Admittedly, I doused my meal in approximately half a bottle. OC Ace's Ope went for the Eggs Rothko––the dish they are most known for––with the homemade pork sausage. What comprises the Rothko, you ask? Well, it's an easy-cooked egg in a slice of brioche topped with Grafton cheddar. In short, it's a tasty concoction to fill you up and ease the effects of the drinking you partook in the night before.
Of course we ordered many a side as well. Kale, hash browns with cheese, and a biscuit to round it all out. Hey, it's a Sunday brunch. You can do these things, right? For those of you who are less gluttonous and would choose just one, go for the hash browns, hands down. The outside is immaculately crisped while preserving the soft, starchy inside, complemented by the melty and gooey cheese.
The next time you're not at work, Egg is not a bad place to start off your day. How could you go wrong with a place that serves breakfast until six PM? I rest my case.
