Fine Wine: Happy Birthday, Trent Reznor!

The American version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was good, right? To be honest, I didn’t really pay a lot of attention to what was happening on the screen; I was way too distracted by the film’s score. And when the credits came on at the end, and Trent Reznor's named rolled by, a hushed Ohhhhhh came from my friends and me. Who else could produce such a tortured and dimensional sound? He won an Academy Award for this project, a Grammy for the score of The Social Network, and produced the soundtrack for another one of my favorite films, Natural Born Killers. Evidently, Trent Reznor (I say his name in full because it's awesome) has been super busy since the halcyon days of Nine Inch Nails—collaborating with artists like Marilyn Manson, Jane's Addiction, and Queens of the Stone Age. NIN started off, like most good things, as a nighttime project: Reznor would stay back late at the recording studio, where he was the janitor. Their album, Pretty Hate Machine, was released in 1989 and their eighth album is expected to come out this year. Bring it on! Today is Trent Reznor's birthday, so take a look at our tribute to him.
