Popsicle sticks stuck to a card that will leave glitter all over the house for the next two months is no longer an acceptable Mother's Day gift. It's time to mom up and get your #1 something fantastic for Mother's Day. Cue our gift guide! For the next two weeks, we'll be checking in with some of our favorite moms and their kids. Next up, Paris Starn (aka our MINI MARTHA) and her supermom, the head of public arts organization Creative Time, Anna Pasternak!
Describe your most memorable Mother's Day with your mom. A few years ago, my mother and I flew out to Los Angeles and we got massages and then headed to Joshua Tree to see the High Desert Test Sites.
Describe your mom's style when she was younger. My mom grew up in West Hartford, CT—was there a choice other than preppy?! She lived in Levi's and corduroys.
Favorite item from your mom's wardrobe? Her lavender suede Repetto heels!
Favorite memory of your mom? I don't think I have a single favorite memory of my mother, but throughout the school year I always look forward to summer, when my mom and I will be upstate at the lake lying on the dock, relaxing, sunbathing, swimming, Monopoly-ing, and eating junk food while we talk and listen to music.
Favorite things to do together? Sit in bed on a lazy Sunday and watch BBC's six-hour Pride and Prejudice.
Favorite meal your mom makes? I'm in the kitchen so much that she never has time to make me anything!
Favorite fictional mom? Morticia Addams
What will you be giving your mom this Mother's Day? The Opening Ceremony Woven Spazzolato heel Sandals, because they are a fun and colorful shoe that my mother can wear throughout the summer, and they match her personality!
