In an early episode of The X-Files, Mulder spray paints the street to mark the location of an alien disturbance (while looking like a mega babe, as always). In my head, that's what all of those neon sidewalk markings in New York are. To Lucio Castro's mind though, they were inspiration. The Brooklyn-based designer took the (easily overlooked) construction signals scrawled all over the city as the starting point for his entire Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Nearly every piece comes with a pop of neon, often softened by multicolor stripes. The ribbed cuffs of the collection's cotton tees and polos come in rainbow stripes with hits of electric orange and green. The Coronado tanks have a fluorescent trim stitched at the inside neck that's invisible when they're worn. And the Avedon jacket has a subtle flash of highlighter yellow at the collar. Hi-vis is so 2012.
