Bites on a Budget: $9.00 at Saltie

Everybody meet our new friend Patrick, who will be reporting on food, music, and other adventures!

Saltie, the rad nautical-themed sandwich shop in Williamsburg, is just what I needed in my life. A few of my friends and I have been stopping by, on the regular, to make our way through their sandwich menu, and to escape the cold with great coffee and a (coveted) bay-window seat.

For our most recent sandwich sail, I went with the Spanish Armada ($9.00), described on the menu as a "potato tortilla and pimentón aioli." It came on thick pieces of delicious homemade potato bread, an attraction in itself. Between the bread were slices of soft potato dressed in Spanish paprika and garlic aioli spread. Not too heavy, yet deliciously filling—exactly my style. We also tried our taste buds on their slightly sweet salad, filled with beets, carrots, apples, and pecans ($9.00)

We topped all this off with some pastries for good measure, sharing the Chocolate Pistachio Nudge ($1.50), the Squash Pocket ($3.00), and the Eccles Cake ($3.00). My favorite was definitely the super Squash Pocket (think pumpkin pie cookie!). The little bit of sugar coupled with caffeine gave us just the kick we needed to walk the plank back into the cold and return to our land-locked lives!

And if you can't decide what sandwich to get you can always leave it up to the hands of fate!
