I'll Take You There: Reykjavik

Recently, I visited the world's northernmost capital city: Reykjavik, Iceland. I have been wanting to see the Northern Lights along with all the other natural phenomena that occur in this amazing city ever since I arrived in Europe but first I visited some of the art galleries and architecture sites of the city and tasted the local specialities.

The highlight of the trip was definitely the Blue Lagoon, which is about 45 minutes from the city center. It was 24°F (-4°C) and snowing and yet I found myself sipping a cocktail in a natural spring with a temperature of 100°F (38°C)! The water is a beautiful shade of blue due to algae and silica, which are also beneficial for your skin. Wooden boxes filled with mud are dotted around the lagoon for DIY facials while you soak in the water—the whole experience was super surreal! Other incredible natural sites include the Gullfoss waterfall, the Strokkur Geysir, and the Þingvellir National Park. It was such a refreshing break!
