Gerl Power: Gerlan Jeans SS13

Buying a "99% angel, 1% devil" T-shirt from my local shopping center was a big deal. It was the first piece of clothing my mom didn't buy for me. My Gap Kids days are over, I thought as I pinned back my bangs with butterfly clips. Helping us relive that high, Gerlan Jeans' spring collection is teen mall wear 2.0. Designer Gerlan Marcel loves prints and this collection features cartoon camo and a collaged pattern including the phrases "gerl power," "stay cute," and "99% angel." Tank tops with stretchy "Gerlan" straps, logoed like boxer short waistbands, and a cat-print T-shirt also remind me of my early sleepwear purchases. (Being able to pick out your own pajamas was definitely the first sign of being an Independent Woman.) Gerlan also teamed up with Disney this season to produce a range of Minnie Mouse-print pieces. Sporty yet chic, a Minnie baseball jersey represents everything that was exciting about discovering the mall solo for the first time.
