OC x PFW: Mugler FW13

Remember when airline stewardesses and Hitchcockian jet setters breezed through futuristic airports with round vanity cases and cigarettes? Although that glamorous not-so-distant past is hard to imagine after a recent schlep from JFK, Mugler creative director Nicola Formichetti evoked the era with his Fall/Winter show. Working with head womenswear designer Sebastien Peigne, Nicola sent a super-sculptural collection down the runway in hues of baby blue, coral, and dove grey, with a notable climax of black and white. Suits had rounded shoulders with echoes of curvy Brasília architecture, and tight little caps rounded out the looks. Standout pieces included intricate furs produced with Kopenhagen Furs, including a pink one that resembled a sweatshirt with cut-outs. Which we would definitely wear to the airport.
