Sibling never fails to put a smile on the faces of even the most serious of show-goers, and yesterday’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection was no exception. With the slogan Please Kill Me spelled out in flowers on the runway’s backdrop, it was sure to be one interesting show. These words, derived from New York punk scene innovator Richard Hell, were to be echoed throughout each look ironically contrasting against enormously oversized sweaters, hats and gloves, made out of the fluffiest circus yarn around.
The theme was inspired by the collision of suburban British domesticity with the eclectic New York punk scene causing an aggressive reaction in the form of obsessive knitting. This clash was represented in the palette—from dusty suburban pinks and blues, to bold reds and blacks. Prints also ranged from traditional Scottish Fair Isle to Sibling’s signature leopard print.
