As someone who is quite the fan of both the holidays and food, Borough Market on a Saturday morning is one of my favorite spots throughout the festive season. I can quite happily admit that when I’m not actually eating food, I’ll be thinking or talking about it. Some say it’s a problem.
Every December, without fail, I dedicate a morning to Borough to buy my Christmas wreath and taste one too many food samples from the endless selection of food and drink. This year, I stocked up on fresh cream custard tarts, the BEST English cheese, venison sausage straight from Tuscany, and some freshly baked focaccia. It also wouldn’t be a Christmas trip to Borough without a cup of mulled apple cider.
"Eat while you shop" should be their motto, and as it turns out it’s a great combination. Just don’t do what I did, and head over to ELLIOT’S afterwards for some oysters and roasted pheasant. Sometimes I wish someone would just tell me to stop. But, hey, it’s the holidays—the month when it is totally OK to be excessively greedy and self-induce food comas, right?
