I'm headed to Art Basel Miami today for work (mostly), sun (naturally), and fun (always). Oh, and um, art. Normally when the idea of me doing a packing post gets floated I decline, imagining extremely boring stacks of striped t-shirts, navy sweaters, and ballet flats (the holy trinity of my staid wardrobe). But Miami is the perfect place to wear all the resort collections in stores that normally look like wishful thinking. So in the name of experimentation, I've packed lots of little outfits for poolside openings in the capital of color. I asked Erin of SUNO if the neon pink embroidered top and skirt I'm taking could be worn together and she said, "Only in Basel." Amen!
An OPENING CEREMONY resort knitted TOP and SKIRT
My T. Anthony black and white carry-on and L.L. Bean mini tote. They're both monogrammed, which is my deepest obsession. I trawl Etsy for monogrammed anything. The PENDLETON towel was a present from Carol and Humberto. Having a nice beach towel changed my life.
This PETER MOUNTAIN WORKS backpack looks like it was dipped in water, which is awesome. I take my notepad and iPad everywhere (can't miss the new episode ofNashville, always taking notes). The World of Interiors is my favorite magazine, but I always get US Weekly for the plane too, of course. I originally had a copy of OC ANNUAL in this mise-en-scène but it looked totally staged so I took it out. However, if you haven't read it you should! New books to read: Grace Coddington's Grace: A Memoir, and my hero Alison Bechdel's graphic memoir Are You My Mother?
The aforementioned neon-embroidered Suno outfit
Love a red bag. The Céline trio was a gift, and my Opening Ceremony OCLA Mini flap bag is a standby. If this was a legitimate "how to pack" blog I'd probably take one of these off, right?
Bikinis! My favorite are from Eres and I realize now that they are all blue. And a few new pairs of brightly-colored Tens, which were a birthday gift from designer
