Meet Sasha, our Imitation of Christ model chosen personally by designer Tara Subkoff to rep the collection on our website!

Your neighborhood (in NY):
I live in the heart of the Bush, off the Morgan stop in Brooklyn. The place where all the kids who leave their dorms come to live in loft-like dorm settings.

Hometown: I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. It's kind of like the Lower East Side. Great vintage.

Astrological sign: Technically Capricorn, on the cusp of Sagittarius. I don't really believe in astrology, but if I did, I'd be a wandering, irresponsible, aloof Sagittarius.

What is something about you that no one would expect? Upon reading my blog, my best friend's mom recently said, "Wow, I had no idea Sasha was intelligent. I always thought she was kind of an airhead."

When I'm not modeling I'm: Blogging. I contribute to a few blogs as well as try to manage my own. I still enjoy modeling but it's not my main focus and hasn't been for quite some time.

Where's the coolest or strangest place you've ever been to for a photo shoot? When I was working in Seoul I was shooting editorials every day, and they were all on location. One of the shoots was 16 hours long and we traveled all over the countryside, shooting on soccer fields with children playing in the background, on the roof of a house in the mountains, on an airplane in a deserted field—all the while in swimwear and a brown wig (see photo at left for proof!).

Essential photo shoot song? People don't usually like when I DJ at photo shoots. I play weird ambient Krautrock music and Disney songs.

Most prized possession? My computer (a Mac). I saved up a long time for it and I do most of my work from it. I have nightmares about it being stolen.

Best gift you've ever given? My ex and I weren't so big on giving material gifts, we were more into going places. For Christmas we went to Puerto Rico and drove all over in a rental car. My only regret is not getting a GPS; we probably would have argued a lot less.

Best gift you've ever received? I had an old Japanese man friend in Tokyo when I was living there last year. For my birthday he put me up in the Tokyo Ritz Carlton for three days, all expenses paid. Four hours of spa treatments and all the room service I could ever hope for. He said as long as I didn't order The Diamond is Forever martini ($18,000) he wouldn't be mad.

What is something that everyone should try at least once? Being homeless. I didn't have my own bed for almost a year, moving from place to place and couch to couch. You really learn who your true friends are, and get to know people in a way that wouldn't normally occur. You also learn how wonderful it is to be without furniture, rent, bills or too many possessions.

If you weren't a model what would you be doing? I don't really consider myself a model anymore, most of my modeling work comes from my blog and most of my money comes from writing or blogging. I feel lucky that I am living in a generation where I have that outlet; it wasn't around 10 years ago when I started modeling.

What's the most played song on your iPod? Manuel Gottsching's trio of "Dream," "Desire," and "Despair" or "The Greatest Adventure" on The Hobbit soundtrack (the animated version).
