Last Friday, friends converged in Manhattan's Lower East Side to celebrate Lizzi Bougatsos and Thornton Dial's joint show, I'm Not Pregnant, at James Fuentes Gallery. Dial's pieces––a drawing and two texturally diverse paintings made with materials like cloth and rope––were outnumbered by Lizzi's works, which included a show-stopping ice sculpture shaped like a boot and an R.I.P. Whitney (Houston) T-shirt that dangled from the ceiling. As for the title of the show? "It's literal," a rep from the gallery said succinctly. Peep the photos from the opening and listen to the MP3 invite, made from Lizzi's recording of a street poet from her block.

Through December 21, 2012.
