Filmmaker and OC alum Greg Luna took to Massachusetts to shoot the latest OCTV film, ON YR MRK, featuring the Fall/Winter collections of Opening Ceremony and Timberland.
When I lived in New York you could usually find me in one of two places: the city, of course, or hiding out in Western Massachusetts. Could you blame me? When the OCTV project came about I took to the Berkshires, along with region-natives Andrew Vottero and Jessica Ginsberg (the video's stylist and production coordinator, respectively), searching for the perfect location to shoot a Capture the Flag race. Hidden roads, warm colors, waterfalls, small towns, and glacial potholes—the setting was perfect.
For the video's concept, I liked the idea of creating a series of obstacles not unlike Nickelodeon's Double Dare and thankfully OC alum Elise Durbecq was up for the challenge. Using a family garage as her makeshift studio, Elise designed and built a very fun (and very orange) arsenal of materials for our models to leap through, toss, smash, and shoot. Calling on New England's finest boys, we cast the video with some of the locals plus some guys from Hampden and Hampshire Counties, Southern Vermont, and Boston. Several of the guys are good friends so inciting their competitive nature wasn't a challenge—especially when the Nerf blasters were involved. We shot the video over two summer days and were a very motley (orange) crew, caravanning from town-to-town, chasing waterfalls and rock formations. With limited bloodshed (fighting for the flag was an occupational hazard) it was definitely a smooth operation that wrapped with backyard beers and astrology readings.
