Study Group: Introducing Études

Études is the next evolution of an art and fashion project headed by French artists Aurélien Arbet and Jérémie Egry (the brains behind clothing line Hixsept). The first collection goes back to the design DNA the duo defined with Hixsept. Simple shapes are animated by subtle colors and singular details—all with a Western twist for fall.

But Études is not just the label formerly known as Hixsept. Part of what makes Etudes (translation: studies) unique is its collaborative MO. In addition to designing clothing, the Études team also publishes art books, and operates as a hub for creative services. Jérémie and Aurélien then bring this multi-disciplinary approach to their menswear. This season, they invited American artist Travess Smalley to design a shirt using one of his digital collages, and photographer Christian Patterson offered up a blue cowboy boot print for a T-shirt. The studio's all-round design expertise also explains in part why its Fall/Winter 2012 lookbook, shot in Brooklyn by friend of OC Jeremy Liebman, is so especially cute.
