Bites on a Budget: $7.50 at Waffle & Wolf

BITES ON A BUDGET is a toothsome and tasty series where members of the OC family forage for great food––under $10!

Throughout time our relationship with waffles has been seasoned exclusively with butter and a (generous) serving of maple syrup. That relationship is about to take a turn for awesome thanks to Waffle & Wolf, home of the folding waffle, and known by locals as the "waffle-wich corner" (sandwiches are so last year).

Stuffings vary from savory (think hummus, bacon, and avocado yogurt) to sweet (sour cherry cream cheese, PB&J, and nutella). There's even a buckwheat option that's both vegan and gluten-free. Try the #10; a delicious concoction of toasted coconut flakes (baked into the waffle mix), yogurt, spinach, cucumber, and basil oil ($7.50) or the #2 filled with "wolf sauce" (tahini and molasses), strawberries, orange marmalade, and almonds ($8.00.) Or play the waffle artisan and choose your own fillings from a list of over 20.

Wash all the goodness down with the #16—"liquid heaven for babies", as I like to call it—made from bananas, milk, honey, and cinnamon, but I'm pretty sure I had you at waffle.
