Keeping Up with Shaun Samson at OCLA

We were lucky enough to have Shaun Samson drop by our OCLA store to talk about his line the other day. In his street-credible fall collection, the designer seems to be getting back to his Cali roots with boxy tunic silhouettes, sporty mesh, funky fur, and graphics inspired by how the gangs of LA wear their clan on their body. Opening Ceremony: What's your astrological sign?
Shaun Samson: Cancer, can you tell?

OC: What's your favorite nightspot in London?
SS: There's this cool club called Work It that's pretty fun, check it out if you come to London.

OC: Where do you go to get away from it all?
SS: Honestly, to my room with a good book! I'm currently reading some Orson Scott Card.

OC: What's does your ideal day look like?
SS: Lately I've been traveling, so there have been time differences. I love waking up to a good e-mail from the world. Recently I was contacted by the Trading Museum in Tokyo about making a special room for my line, which was very flattering. The rest of my ideal day is that it goes smoothly and ends in my room with a book.

OC: What is something no one would expect about Shaun Samson?
SS: One, that I'm a Cancer. Two, that my bedroom is oh-so-orderly. Most people wouldn't expect that from me or my work.

OC: What was your last meal?
SS: A burrito and an horchata.
