Uniform Appeal: Patrik Ervell Women's FW12

Sweater, pants, bomber jacket, cap. Done. I love the idea of having a uniform. Rolling out of bed and knowing what you're going to wear is both time-saving and weirdly empowering. No more throwing clothes onto your bed in a last-minute panic. The Patrik Ervell school of getting dressed teaches comfort, practical elegance, and well-placed details. The building blocks—crewneck sweaters, varsity-style wool jackets, and tailoring—are there season after season like wardrobe BFFs, but they also evolve to keep things interesting. For example, for Fall/Winter 2012, Patrik looked to police uniforms (very fitting), updating sweaters with woven shoulder patches, and adding navy nylon skirts into the mix. So while full-on uniform dressing may still be a pipe dream for now, I know that I'll be spending an extra half hour in bed every morning this winter because I'm armed with Patrik's better-than-basic staples.
